- What type of mold is the worst? With so much attention being given to "toxic mold", it's understandable that so many people wonder what types of mold are the worst to have in your home. The term toxic mold is often used by the media to describe mold strains like Aspergillus, Stachybotrys and Cladosporium. But it's important to keep in mind that any mold strain can be an issue in high concentrations indoors because all mold strains will reduce indoor air quality, aggravate allergies, and potentially lead to respiratory problems and other health effects. In fact, while we have been able to identify some mold strains that produce mycotoxins, which are often described as "toxic molds", some scientists now believe that many strains may produce mycotoxins that we simply can't identify or test for yet. So what mold strains are the worst is a difficult question to answer because it does depend on what affects you personally. Regardless of the mold strain, mold issues should be addressed properly and effectively to ensure your home is safe and mold growth doesn't cause long-term damage to your home. Would you like to get your question answered by our experts? That's what we're here for. Be sure to leave a comment on this video with your questions and we will consider them for a future episode.
